A community of happy learners on the path to success

Welcome to Burton Green Primary School

Our school is a welcoming and friendly place where learning is at the heart of everything we do. We are lucky to be on the edge of Clifton in York, with the nature park that surrounds us giving the feel of the countryside in the city. We have 2 year old provision on site, a school nursery for 3-4 year olds and classes from Reception to Year 6. We are part of the Hope Learning Trust, which means we have high ambition, and access to wider opportunities for our children.

We want your child to be happy, build their self-belief, and succeed in their learning while they are with us. Burton Green aims to provide a caring, supportive and safe environment in which your child can develop and learn as part of their life-long learning journey. We want your child to know their talents and have ambition for their future.

Our pupils are encouraged to take pride in their own and other children’s achievements and to approach learning with confidence and enthusiasm. We have specialist art teaching, specialist music teaching including instrument tuition for Year 3-6, specialist PE coaches, forest schools and opportunities of outdoor learning. Through displays and assemblies, everyday classroom life and special events we celebrate our successes, sharing these with parents and carers where-ever possible.

Children achieve their best when parents/carers and school work in partnership. We will keep you informed about school activities and welcome your involvement. Staff are always happy to talk with you about child and their learning. We have Home-School support workers to support all aspects of school and family life. We ask that you support your child with homework, with attending school regularly and helping us celebrate your child’s successes.

Come and meet us! We really look forward to working with your child and you.
